Call for Applications 002 – 2025

General

Considerations

The Language Institute of the Universidad Industrial de Santander invites participation in Public Call No. 002-2025, aimed at expanding the pool of eligible instructors for foreign language courses offered through the extension program.

Each applicant may consult the UIS website for the publication of results corresponding to each stage of the process, in accordance with the timeline established in this call.

Modality: Classes will be held in-person and/or remotely.

Schedules: Courses are assigned based on demand. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday in 2-hour daily sessions, and on Saturdays in 4.5-hour time blocks, both in the morning and afternoon, depending on service needs and instructor availability.

Location: Bucaramanga campus – metropolitan area and regional campuses, depending on the applicant’s profile.

Evaluation of the Selection Process: Each stage of the process outlined in the call is eliminatory in nature.

EVALUATION

Résumé

  • Verification of submission of the résumé in FTH.150 format with supporting documents.

  • Evaluation of the FTH.150 résumé: A minimum score of 50 points is required to proceed to the next stage of the process.

  • Only one undergraduate degree will be considered.

  • Only one doctoral degree will be recognized.

  • Professional experience will be counted from the date of the undergraduate graduation, and overlapping experience will not be recognized.

  • Certificates of refresher courses and academic productivity completed within the last five years will be taken into account to award points in the résumé evaluation. (Refresher courses must be related to pedagogical areas or areas relevant to the scope of this call.)

  •  

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Applicants must submit certification of an official international or UIS institutional language proficiency exam, at level B2 or higher according to the CEFR. The certificate must be valid within the following periods: B2 – issued within the past 2 years; C1 – issued within the past 3 years. (This certificate will be considered in the résumé evaluation.)

Notes:

  • Applicants who do not submit a language proficiency certificate for the language they intend to teach, but who meet the other requirements, will be summoned by the UIS Language Institute to take the institutional proficiency exam on the date specified in the call.

  • Applicants who hold a valid and current language proficiency certificate will be exempt from taking the UIS Language Institute institutional exam. (This certificate contributes points to the résumé evaluation.)

  • Graduates of the Foreign Language Teaching degree program from UIS will also be exempt from taking the institutional proficiency exam for the purposes of this call. However, like all eligible candidates, they must present a valid international or institutional proficiency certificate after two years in order to remain in the Pool of Eligible Candidates.

  • Inclusion in the Pool of Eligible Candidates does not entail any obligation or commitment by the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) or the UIS Language Institute to assign teaching hours or provide financial support to applicants.

  • Once included in the Pool of Eligible Candidates, applicants may be contracted based on service needs, according to the campus, schedule, and profile to which they applied.

TEACHING SESSION

10-minute sample class: The evaluation score of the mini lesson must be equal to or greater than 15 points in order to proceed in the selection process.

INTERVIEW EVALUATION

The interview evaluation score must be equal to or greater than 6 points in order to proceed in the selection process.

GENERAL NOTES

.

  • Applicants interested in participating in this call must complete their registration and upload a single PDF file containing all required documents, including the completed Institutional Résumé Form FTH.150 and supporting documents, through the link provided.

  • The documents uploaded by applicants within the established timeframe will be the only ones considered throughout the entire selection process. The Language Institute, by decision of the Primary Group, may authorize the correction of minor formal defects in the submitted documents during the résumé verification and evaluation stage.

  • The accuracy and content of the supporting documents submitted are the sole responsibility of the applicant. In all cases, the UIS Language Institute reserves the right to verify the information provided by the applicant in the résumé.

  • Applications that do not meet the established requirements, are submitted with incomplete documentation, or are received after the deadline indicated in the call schedule will not be considered.

  • Male applicants must take into account the following:
    “In order to be eligible for employment at the University, among other legal requirements, the applicant must provide proof that their military service status has been defined. This may be demonstrated by submitting a copy of the military service card, provisional military card, or any other document issued by the Recruitment Office of the Armed Forces.”

  • Each of the stages outlined in this call is eliminatory in nature. Likewise, failure to attend or complete any of the stages by the applicant will be considered a voluntary withdrawal from the call.

  • Once admitted to the Pool of Eligible Candidates, hiring will be based on service needs.
