Institute for Regional Outreach and Distance Education (IPRED)

Second Extraordinary Call for Tutors for the Technical Professional Program in Agricultural Production

General

Considerations

The call for candidates to expand the pool of eligible candidates for tutors in the distance and virtual education modality of the Institute for Regional Outreach and Distance Education – IPRED aims to select individuals with a strong sense of belonging and institutional commitment, hired by the University to perform teaching functions with excellence at the personal, professional, and ethical levels, aligned with the achievement of the University’s Vision, Mission, and Institutional Objectives.

The tutor performs the function of directing courses on a temporary basis, and their linkage to UIS is carried out through a special employment contract, valid for the maximum duration of one academic semester.

With the pool of eligible candidates, the IPRED programs can rely on a list of professionals who have met the requirements to serve as tutors in the academic programs of IPRED, with a validity of five (5) years. This does not imply immediate hiring; instead, candidates will be contacted as teaching needs arise within the programs.

Essay Guidelines:

At the Universidad Industrial de Santander, it is established that [[1]] in the distance and virtual modalities, the relationship between hours of interaction with the professor and hours of independent work (HIP: HTI) includes a greater proportion of HTI than in the face-to-face modality. The hours of interaction between the professor and the student (HIP) are mostly synchronous (between 70% and 80%) and take place mainly online (between 70% and 80%), although the academic program establishes a proportion of academic activities carried out in physical spaces defined in the educational project (between 20% and 30%). In the virtual modality, the development of HIP is mainly asynchronous (greater than 80%) and mostly online, mediated through ICT (greater than 80%).

The greater proportion of hours of independent work means that one of the main tutorial guidelines is the detailed organization of interactions, which becomes a fundamental factor in the training process in distance and virtual modalities. Additionally, participation in synchronous tutoring sessions is not established as mandatory.

  • Topic: Write an argumentative essay  [[2]] in which you present the critical aspects that make interaction with students possible in distance and virtual modalities, and based on your arguments, what concrete actions you would carry out.

  1. The argumentative essay must be submitted in PDF format, be between 700 and 1,000 words, use Arial font size 11, with 1.5 line spacing and 2 cm margins on all sides (representing an approximate length of 2 pages).

  2. The course associated with the profile being applied for must be stated and used as the basis for constructing the essay.

  3. The evaluation criteria are: Organization, coherence and relevance, use of language, argumentative and creative capacity, currency of the concepts addressed, and updated bibliographic references.
