Call
Introduction
This call is in response to the Policy of support for training through Information and Communication Technologies (Superior Agreement No. 051 of 2009) and related regulations. The Policy establishes the guiding principles for supporting training through ICT, recognizing the importance of appropriating and utilizing technology to enrich teaching, learning, and evaluation processes.
Accordingly, this call aims to encourage the development of proposals formulated by teams of students and professors of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) in the framework of their final work. The proposals should support the training processes of UIS undergraduate academic programs by utilizing ICT tools.
It is in the institutional interest to showcase the learning outcomes and competencies developed by students during their training process. This evidence demonstrates the institutional imprint resulting from the appropriation of the 2018 Institutional Project and the UIS21 Pedagogical Model, and should be reflected in the profiles of graduating students.

PREPARATION OF THE
proposal
.
The student must propose, within the framework of his degree work, the development of one or several elements that support the training processes through the use of ICT. The correspondence with the objective of the call, justification, planning, application and incorporation of simulation tools and their impact on the teaching-learning process, among others, will be valued.
The degree work may be developed in any of the modalities of degree work approved by the School or program, provided that the objective of the project points to the objective of this call. The proposal must correspond to the plan approved by the degree work committee of the School, and the elements that must be extracted from its degree work plan to submit to this call, are in the proposal format contained in Annex 1.
The proposal may be submitted by an author or several authors, but must correspond to the same students, the director, and co-director (if applicable), authorized by the committee of degree works for its realization; Therefore, it is not allowed to include new members once the nomination of the proposal is submitted.
All authors must authorize participation in the call, through Annex 3.
ENDORSEMENT AND
submission
.
The student’s proposal must have the endorsement of the professor director of the degree project, and the co-director (if applicable). These roles for the professor or professors must have the official assignment by the degree work committee. The endorsement implies that the supervision of the progress of the execution of the proposal can be consulted and managed through the director of the degree work, and co-director (if applicable).
The student will fill out Annex 1 and send it to the director teacher, and co-director (if applicable), so that the endorsement can be granted, individually, in the format of Annex 3. The endorsement or endorsements must be transformed into a single PDF file to be sent in the application form.
The information of the proposal consigned in Annex 1, together with the endorsements and the copy of the minutes of the degree work committee where the approval of the degree work plan is evidenced, must be sent to the Academic Vice-Rectory through the following form HERE.
STUDY AND APPROVAL OF
proposals
.
ELTIC will be in charge of the evaluation process of the proposals, firstly, in terms of verifying compliance with the requirements of the call and, secondly, following the criteria set out in Annex 2.
First stage: eligible. For a proposal to be considered within the list of eligible winners, it must obtain at least 80% of the maximum possible score.
Second stage: selection by groups. The three (3) best scores from each of the following groups will be selected as winners:
Faculty of Science
Faculty of Human Sciences
Faculty of Physicomechanical Engineering
Faculty of Physicochemical Engineering
IPRED
If within any of the groups the three (3) winners are not completed, ELTIC may reassign the available places in the third selection stage.
Third stage: selection by score. As a selection mechanism to optimize the allocation of available resources, from the list of eligible after excluding the winners of the second stage, ELTIC will select the proposals that obtained the highest score, until completing a total of fifteen (15) winners adding those of the second and third stage.
Finally, an additional stimulus to the score will be assigned to the applicant teams that comply, totally or partially, with encouraging the use of simulation tools: The proposals that contemplate the incorporation of simulation tools will receive up to 3 tenths additional to the weighted score.
Note: The cases of a tie will be settled by comparing the score obtained in the individual indicators, ordered according to weighting. (See Annex 2). If the tie persists, the final winner will be selected randomly through the use of a computer tool.
The final results of this activity will be published by ELTIC in the institutional media and, in addition, will be notified both to the director of the degree project, the co-director (if applicable), and the students who authored the winning proposals. This activity ends this stage of the call.
DEVELOPMENT AND CLOSURE OF
proposals
.
For the development of the proposal, it is requested that all the activities included in the project be executed during the calendar year 2023.
At the end of the development stage, the team of students and teachers who authored the proposal must:
Have developed all the products included in the winning proposal to support the training processes through the use of ICTs.
Have carried out the assembly of the products, which implies including them as material of the Moodle virtual learning classroom of the teachers who will use it later.
Deliver a “Report of lessons learned and recommendations” that describes the observations collected during the time of development of the proposal, in a format that will be sent by ELTIC.
Socialize with the respective Academic Unit the result of the implementation of the proposal and present evidence of this activity.
Socialize the result of the implementation of the proposal in a day programmed by the ELTIC.
Authors must explicitly include their affiliation with the Universidad Industrial de Santander in all resulting products.
Students with winning proposals must complete the project, deliver the products described in the proposal and fulfill all the commitments of this call before receiving their degree. This verification will be included as a degree requirement (peace and security) from the Academic Vice-Rectory. In case the day scheduled by the ELTIC is after the student’s degree, an agreement must be established on which other member of the team will attend this commitment and the agreement must be notified to the ELTIC. In this case, requirement (v) of this numeral will not be included in the student’s peace and safe grade.
The fulfillment of the commitments of this call, in the case of students, is independent of the academic evaluation of the degree work. Likewise, in case of unjustified breach of commitments by students, this may result in the respective sanctions and / or other relevant actions.
In the case of participating professors, the commitments of this call are part of their contracted teaching activities (professors) or their teaching functions (full-time professors), as directors or co-directors of the degree work of the participating students. Then, the unjustified breach of the commitments acquired within the framework of this call, may give rise to the respective sanctions according to the type of relationship they have with the University.
