Extraordinary Call for Tutors for the Technical Professional Program in Agricultural Production

General

Considerations

Call for Candidates to Expand the Pool of Eligible Tutors for the Distance and Virtual Education Modality of the Institute for Regional Outreach and Distance Education – IPRED. The purpose of this call is to select individuals with a strong sense of belonging and institutional commitment, who will be hired by the University to perform teaching duties with personal, professional, and ethical excellence, aligned with the Institutional Vision, Mission, and Objectives.

The tutor performs the function of course direction on a temporary basis, and their linkage to UIS is established through a special employment contract for a maximum period of one academic semester.

The pool of eligible candidates allows IPRED programs to have a list of professionals who have met the requirements to be hired as tutors in IPRED’s academic programs, valid for five (5) years. This does not imply immediate hiring; rather, candidates will be contacted as teaching needs arise within the programs.

Essay Guidelines

At the Universidad Industrial de Santander, it is established that [[1]] in both the distance and virtual education modalities, the relationship between student–teacher interaction hours and independent work hours (HTI: Independent Work Hours) differs from the face-to-face modality. Interaction hours between teacher and student (HIP) are mostly synchronous (between 70% and 80%) and take place mainly online, although the program includes a proportion of academic activities that are carried out in physical spaces established in the educational project (between 20% and 30%). In the virtual modality, student work is mostly asynchronous (over 80%) and primarily developed online, mediated by ICT tools.

The higher proportion of independent work hours makes one of the main tutorial guidelines the detailed organization of interactions, which becomes a key factor in the training process within the distance and virtual modalities. In addition, participation in synchronous tutorial sessions is not established as mandatory.

  • Topic: Write an argumentative essay [[2]] presenting the critical aspects that make interaction with students in distance and virtual modalities possible and, based on your arguments, describe the concrete actions you would implement.

  1. The argumentative essay must be submitted in PDF format, containing between 700 and 1000 words, in Arial font, size 11, with 1.5 line spacing and 2 cm margins on all sides (approximately 2 pages in length).

  2. The essay must indicate the course of the profile for which the applicant is applying, which serves as the basis for the essay’s construction.

  3. The evaluation criteria are as follows: organization, coherence and relevance; use of language; argumentative and creative capacity; validity of the addressed concepts; and updated references in the bibliography.
