Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs

Call for Proposals – ICT Events 2025

Introduction to the

Call

The UIS21 Pedagogical Model affirms that the continuous improvement of the educational process requires educational research. To achieve this, the institution must promote opportunities for professors interested in driving change in education—whether from a disciplinary perspective or within the broader context of higher education—to develop competencies that allow them to research their own teaching practices, improve them, and share their findings within communities of practice at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

Participation in academic and scientific events enables the dissemination and appropriation of emerging technologies and methodologies in the education sector.

This call therefore aims to support UIS professors by providing funding for travel (national or international) to participate in events with an educational focus, specifically those emphasizing the use of ICT resources as tools for pedagogical mediation.

The objective is to promote the participation of UIS professors in dissemination events, especially those who have developed experiences aimed at supporting educational processes through the use of ICT tools within the context of Higher Education at the Universidad Industrial de Santander.

Preparation and Submission

The professor(s) must prepare a proposal that describes an experience with results, in accordance with the objective set out in this call. The format for presenting the ICT experience is provided in Annex 1, “Template for Presenting Experiences,” which is attached to the terms of reference for this call. It is important to highlight that the information submitted should clearly show the authorship and affiliation to the Universidad Industrial de Santander, and abbreviations should not be used when referring to this institution.

Additionally, the professor(s) must complete the form, which includes:

  • A description of the interest in participating in the EVENTOS-TIC 2025 Call.

  • Selection of the type of support: National or International.

  • Name of the event to attend as a speaker* (It is possible to participate in this call even if the presentation has not yet been formally accepted by the event), and include the link to the event’s website, along with the composition of the Academic or Scientific Committee.

  • Contact details of the authors.

  • Written authorization from all authors of the work, designating one of the professors (the presenter) as the contact person for this call.

  • A description of the experience according to what is outlined in Annex 1, “Template for Presenting Experiences.”

The letter or certificate of acceptance to the event is not required to participate in the call, but it is necessary to process the corresponding financial support.

Study and Approval of Experiences

The experiences will be evaluated by the ELTIC, according to the criteria established in Annex 2, and experiences will be selected until the available resources are exhausted to be supported with the incentives from the call.

The description of the relationship with the UIS21 Pedagogical Model considers the inclusion in the experience of the following aspects established in the MPUIS21:

  • Focused on learning and the learner.

  • Oriented towards training for innovation.

  • Assisted by the use of information and communication technologies.

  • Materialized in the imprint of the common traits of graduates.

  • Deployed in the macro, meso, and micro-curricular areas.

Additionally, participation in the course “University Policies: UIS21 Pedagogical Model – Recognizing Ourselves,” offered by CEDEDUIS, will be acknowledged. This refers to whether the professors involved in the experience have a certificate from the course, are currently taking it, or are enrolled, with the best possible scenario being that they hold the certificate.

To be considered among the list of eligible winners, an experience must obtain at least 80% of the maximum possible score. In case of a tie, the tie-breaking process will use the individual indicator scores from Annex 2, in descending order of value. If this mechanism is exhausted, the final selection will be made randomly using a software tool.

The authors of the selected experiences for support will be contacted by the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office to sign the initiation document. With the publication of the results, this stage of the call will conclude.

Execution of Mobility

The instructions for the execution of mobility will be provided to the winners of the call by the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office.

The execution of mobility entails the following commitments that must be carried out by the winning professors:

  • Present the certification of being a speaker at the respective event, along with the event’s minutes, if available. Both the presentation and the minutes must acknowledge the Universidad Industrial de Santander, clearly indicating the involvement of each author.

  • Inform the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office whether or not any awards or special distinctions were received. If such recognition is obtained, the corresponding document must be sent to the Vice-Rector’s Office as proof.

  • Send a summary of the presentation and the event, of no more than 350 words, and a photo related to the participation in the event, via email to academicaprofesores@uis.edu.co, within a week after the presentation is executed. This information will be used for promoting the participation in institutional media.

  • Share with the respective Academic Unit the results of the experience’s implementation and provide evidence of this activity. This sharing should take place after attending the event.

  • Share the implementation results of the experience during a session organized by ELTIC.

  • Submit the certificate of participation in the course* “University Policies: UIS21 Pedagogical Model – Recognizing Ourselves” offered by CEDEDUIS for each participating professor in the experience.

  • Include in all resulting products the names of all participants and their connection to the University, e.g., Name (xxxxx xxxxx) – Professor, Universidad Industrial de Santander / Name: (xxxxx xxxxx) – Student Assistant.

The documents that confirm these commitments must be submitted to the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office within two (2) months after participation in the event and before the end of 2025.

It is important to remind participants that, as Universidad Industrial de Santander is a public institution supervised by the Ministry of National Education, unjustified failure to meet the commitments made within this call may lead to the corresponding sanctions based on the type of affiliation with the University.

*This training experience aims to generate an institutional reflection process regarding the transformation that the UIS21 Pedagogical Model brings to the teaching function. It is a virtual, self-directed modality with a duration of 20 hours. For more information, you can contact ceded@uis.edu.co.
