Rotating Internship

The rotating internship begins on December 1, 2025, with a duration of 12 months. This time, a total of 25 spots are available. The duration of each rotation, depending on the modality, can be found in the following table:

The sequence of rotations is modular, so that all students will attend all the indicated services according to the scheduled program, articulated in groups that include interns from Universidad Industrial de Santander who started their internship year on June 1, 2025, or will begin on December 1, 2025.

The ESE Hospital Universitario de Santander provides lunch to interns scheduled to work during the day on any day of the week, or dinner and breakfast for those on night shifts. The regional hospitals of Málaga and San Gil, as well as Unidad Clínica La Magdalena in Barrancabermeja, provide lodging and meals during the two months in which interns are assigned to these three locations. Any other expenses must be covered by the students.

APPLICATION

Process

The application period will be from September 15 to October 10, 2023. To apply for a spot, interested students must send the following documentation to the email egremed@uis.edu.co 

• Fully completed    “ Internship Application Form” 

• Transcript of grades obtained during each completed semester of the program. The certified cumulative GPA required to qualify in the evaluation of the résumé must be at least 3.50, which is the minimum score for any applicant.

• Proof of academic enrollment in the last semester of the program at the student’s home university.

• Certificate of availability to begin the internship program starting from the induction week, which will take place between November 24 and 28, 2025, issued by the competent authority of the student’s home university. This induction week is MANDATORY in order to begin the internship year.

• Certificate stating that the applicant has not been subject to disciplinary sanctions, issued by the home university.

• Optional: Certificate(s) of presentation of original work at conferences or of articles in peer-reviewed publications, all related to Health Sciences. A mere listing is not sufficient; adequate supporting evidence must be submitted, such as the presentation at the event, the letter of acceptance of the publication, or the publication itself.

Optional: Certificate of proficiency in a foreign language, such as TOEFL, IELTS, MET-Michigan, or FCE for English; DELF or DALF for French; or CELPE-BRAS for Portuguese, for example. It is also possible to accept the results of placement tests or formal courses carried out by language institutes or by those recognized by the applicant’s home university. In any case, this certificate must allow the score to be equated to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in the four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The SABER PRO exam score is not sufficient for this purpose.

SELECTION

Process

The spots for the Rotating Internship will be awarded to the candidates with the highest scores according to the following scale, as defined in Annex 1 of Agreement 030 of 2014 issued by the UIS Board of Trustees (Consejo Superior).

• Accredited high-quality program: 4 points

• Accredited high-quality university: 4 points

• Proficiency in a language other than Spanish:

  • Not certified or Level A: 0 points

  • Level B: 1 point

  • Level C: 2 points

• Cumulative GPA:

  • 3.50 to 3.59 → 2 points

  • 3.60 to 3.69 → 3 points

  • 3.70 to 3.79 → 4 points

  • 3.80 to 3.89 → 5 points

  • 3.90 to 3.99 → 6 points

  • 4.00 to 4.09 → 7 points

  • 4.10 to 4.19 → 9 points

  • 4.20 to 4.29 → 11 points

  • 4.30 to 4.39 → 13 points

  • 4.40 or higher → 15 points

• Presentations at conferences or publications: 1 point each, up to 3 points.

• General knowledge exam on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. This exam will last one hour and will be administered through the Moodle platform. More detailed information for taking the exam will be sent by email to applicants who complete their registration properly and on time. Value: 28 points.

In case of a tie in the applicants’ final results, the decision will be made according to the following criteria, in order:

• Having exercised the right to vote in the previous electoral process before registration.

• Highest score obtained on the knowledge exam.

• The applicant who registered first.

The results of the selection process will be published on Monday, October 20, 2025. Applicants who are selected will receive a communication with the instructions to formalize their enrollment with Universidad Industrial de Santander.
