General

Aspects

The purpose of the call for candidates is to expand the pool of eligible tutors for distance and virtual education, and to select individuals who demonstrate a strong sense of institutional commitment and belonging. These candidates will be hired by the University to fulfill teaching responsibilities, and are expected to possess a high level of personal, professional, and ethical excellence, with a clear focus on achieving the Vision, Mission, and Institutional Objectives of the University. The tutor will serve as a subject director for a limited duration, and will be connected to UIS through a special employment contract that lasts no longer than one academic semester.
It is important to note that the eligible candidate bank will provide programs with a list of individuals who meet the requirements to become tutors for academic programs, and this list will remain valid for three years. This does not guarantee immediate employment, but rather these candidates will be contacted as program needs arise.

GENERAL

Guidelines

.

At Universidad Industrial de Santander

it is established* that in the distance modality and in the virtual modality the relationship between the hours of interaction with the teacher and the hours of independent work (HIP: HTI) have a higher proportion of HTI than in the face-to-face modality. The hours of interaction between the teacher and the student (HIP) are mostly synchronous (between 70 and 80%) and are mainly developed online (between 70 and 80%), although the program establishes a proportion of academic activities that are carried out in physical spaces established in the educational project (between 20 and 30%). In the virtual modality, the development of HIPs is mainly asynchronous (over 80%) and mostly online, mediated by ICT (over 80%). The higher proportion of hours of independent work makes one of the main orientations of tutorial type is the detailed organization of interactions that becomes a fundamental factor of the training process in distance and virtual modalities. In addition, participation in synchronous tutoring sessions is not mandatory.
